This is expected news, in the current climate but still worrying.
I do think that this also affects PR graduates in more ways than one. It means the following:
- PR departments or comms positions in these small & medium businesses have been affected. They are cutting back on how much they spend on promotion if they don’t want new PR blood
- Does this mean PR graduates should look to the big corporates for juicy first jobs? I don’t know but naturally all avenues should be exhausted first.
This is not good news but it serves as a good reminder for graduates to think of other avenues where they can still use their PR/promotional skills.
